Following on from his thought-provoking presentation at The Indie Summit in Beijing, Dan Egerton, Founder of Actus Consulting, will be hosting a workshop for thenetworkone members in London on 20th September.

About this workshop

Running an agency is an exciting, rewarding and exhilarating role, but it is equally exhausting, chaotic and challenging. As we look towards the second decade of the 21st century, it’s a good time to reflect, take stock and plan for the future.

The workshop will be fully interactive, giving you the opportunity to take a step back and look at the challenges and opportunities for growth in your agency. You will reflect on what you have achieved and where you want to take the business next.

Outcomes of the day

Through this faced paced and interactive one day workshop, you will learn to use a number of different tools and methodologies to guide your decision making and ultimately build a plan for the future of your business. The workshop will be broken down into three sections:

1. Where are you now?

Using the Business Performance Index tool, we will breakdown in detail the current performance of your business. The outcome will be to see if you are ready to accelerate the growth of your business.

The BPI tool looks at the eight core areas of your business from financial performance to the structure of the senior management team as well as your positioning and offer. We will look at best practice in each area and share learnings along the way.

2. Where are you going?

To build your dream with a plan, we will project our minds into the future so you can decide on the direction you want your business to go in.

Having an agency with a clear purpose and clarity around its long-term objectives is critically important to guide decision making. It brings focus on the actions and changes that need to take place to accelerate the growth of your business. With guidance, you will identify the big, bold ambition of your business and then develop a vivid description of what it will be like to achieve.

3. How are you going to get there?

Making it happen is 1% vision, 99% alignment, so in the final part of the day, we will bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to go.

As Stephen Covey said, “The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing”. Scaling a business is about taking one significant step at a time and then checking data and adjusting accordingly. Therefore, everyone has to be aligned with the #1 thing that needs to be accomplished this quarter to move the company forward.

Finally, we will turn all that you have identified as opportunities and priorities in your business into clear and aligned actions. These will be further broken down into a set of objectives, responsibilities and timelines so that immediate changes can start to take place in the business.

The facilitator’s biography

Dan has a clear and straightforward aim: to create more opportunities for his clients and increase their long-term value. To achieve this, he provides a clear understanding of the current status of the business, a focus on the strategic direction and support around operational change. Importantly, all his work is driven by improving the way teams work together and creating a high performing team to deliver the strategic plans.

He has worked with over 100 companies as well as setting up and running businesses himself. Having worked extensively across many sectors, including Property, Marketing Communications and Technology sectors, he knows how to break down barriers to business growth and profitability.

Dan takes a very hands-on approach with all his clients, working closely with the senior management team to transform the business. He spent seven years working in the consultancy practice of a boutique investment bank. He started his career at PwC and previously worked at Baker Tilly.
